About pavilion

The ‘Soul of Russia. The North’ pavilion of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic is devoted to Indigenous peoples. In addition to its extensive business programme, the pavilion will present a photo exhibition with unique shots that illustrate the life and national traditions of Indigenous peoples.

The ‘Introduction to Indigenous Peoples’ interactive zone will feature an installation with information about each different group of Indigenous people living in Russia, including their population, language, religion, way of life, traditions, and region of residence. Two steles on the left and right sides of the screen will provide additional information about the folklore and customs of the small-numbered Indigenous peoples.

In the tourism zone, guests will learn about active recreation and travel in the Arctic, while the fishing zone will highlight the traditional sea hunting methods of Indigenous peoples. The souvenir zone will feature unique handicrafts.

The pavilion’s visitors will have an opportunity to taste Arctic cuisine, take part in master classes on how to make products from birch bark, wood, and fish skin, learn northern dances, and view performances by creative groups from the Far East.
